Eva Winkler is head of the Section for Translational Medical Ethics at Heidelberg University Hospital. She is Executive Director and Senior Physician for Medical Oncology at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg.
Eva Winkler received her doctorate in cancer research from the University of Heidelberg and in medical and health ethics from the University of Basel. She is a specialist in hematology/oncology and works as a senior physician in medical oncology. As Heisenberg Professor, she heads the Section for Translational Medical Ethics at Heidelberg University Hospital. Her research interests are Research Ethics, Clinical Ethics and Ethical Issues in Health Policy. In this regard, she heads the EURAT project group at Heidelberg University (Ethical and Legal Aspects of Translational Medicine).
She is chair of the Central Ethics Committee at the German Medical Association (ZEKO) and active as a medical ethicist in various committees such as the German Human Genome-Phenome Archive (GHGA), the European '1+ Million Genomes' Initiative and the working group "Genetic Engineering Report" at the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH).
