Peter Dabrock is a theologist with a research focus on the ethics of technical and life science issues. From 2012 to 2020, Dabrock was a member of the German Ethics Council, which he chaired in 2016.
Peter Dabrock has been Professor of Systematic Theology (Ethics) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg since 2010. Until 2010 he was Professor of Social Ethics at the University of Marburg.
His research focuses on the ethics of technical and life science issues, health-related digitalisation and the theological and philosophical understanding of life. He is also interested in the theological ethics of the political, such as social justice and human dignity.
He is and has been a member of various national and international committees, such as the Central Ethics Committee at the German Medical Association. He is the first theologist to be a full member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering; in 2022 he was elected to its presidium. At the international level, Dabrock was a member of the "European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies" until 2016.
